You will get an insurance card from Techniker Krankenkasse which you present every time you go to the doctor. If you have shown your insurance card, the physician will settle the bill directly with the insurance provider. Your insurance card is the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which is not only accepted in Germany but in most other European countries as well.

The video below explains how the EHIC works.

Provisit Incoming Insurance

Provisit Incoming Insurance offers you, among other things, cover for acute, unexpected illness or injury. You will find an overview of the insured benefits in this product information.

If you are ill, first consult a general practitioner or, in the case of toothache, a dentist before going to a specialist or hospital. If possible, please present the doctor with the Ärzte-Info-Ticket (medical info card) prior to any treatment. The card contains information about the type of billing as well as important details regarding your insurance coverage.

After the treatment doctors can settle their bills directly with us. If the doctor sends the invoice to DR-WALTER, we will transfer the invoice amount directly to the doctor’s account. If the doctor does not want to settle the bill directly with us, you will receive an invoice from the doctor after the treatment. This invoice must state the name of the person treated, the name of the illness, the nature of the individual medical services and the treatment costs.

Please pay this invoice and then submit it to us. Please use this online form for this purpose. The reimbursement will then be made to the account you have specified.

What areas do I need insurance approval for in advance?

In some cases, a written benefit confirmation must be obtained from us prior to the start of treatment in order to be reimbursed for up to 100 percent of eligible expenses.

In the outpatient area in the case of: (certificate of medical necessity with justification, e.g. by doctor's referral slip):

  1. Allergy tests
  2. Computed tomography (CT)
  3. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  4. Scintigraphy

In the dental field at (medical costs projection):

  1. Treatment of more than two teeth during the insurance period
  2. Periodontal disease
  3. Treatments for which the invoice amount is expected to be higher than € 250

Your doctor can fax us a medical costs projection before treatment begins. Medical costs projections are usually processed within one working day. We recommend that you have a medical costs projection drawn up in advance for all complex treatments. Consultation with us in advance about planned treatments gives you and the attending physician planning security and prevents misunderstandings.

Without our written confirmation of the medical costs projection, the reimbursement of these above-mentioned benefits is limited to 50 percent of the reimbursable costs.

Please send the medical costs projection to:
